Well, I finally made it. After a week in Los Angeles visiting friends, over 16 hours on an airplane, getting sick and getting an ear infection, I FINALLY am starting to settle in here in Brisbane, Australia.

Now it’s time to start learning about the shelter systems, programs, laws and other beneficial aspects to animal rescue. Thankfully I have already met a handful of animal lovers with great leads!

While I was in LA I was able to tour the new Best Friends building called No Kill LA. It was a beautiful and modern building. I was able to gather many photos and information to take back to the board for discussion about where we saw things we can learn from!

We have begun petsitting in trade for free rent, which will make it easy to begin research, gathering the places I want to visit, and the people I want to meet . We are watching a German Shorthaired Pointer named Karma for two months. She is an awesome and super sweet dog that we will be taking on many adventures. So far everything seems very pet friendly here, so our hope is that Karma will also open doors to many pet friendly opportunities and conversations!

In the meantime the rest of the board is working very hard in Denver! We recently took in 30 new kitties that will all be going up for adoption! Also be sure to check out our fundraisers at Berkley Untapped and through the Colorado Avalanche here.

This blog will begin as a weekly blog, more details to come, so check back!
